We're building Faringdon a Sensory Garden in commemoration of the end of World War 1.

Here's our Vision...

A community Sensory Garden, accessible to all. Designed to be a safe, welcoming and beautiful area.

Project Overview

The re-landscaping of an derelict, abandoned & unused site for community use. Planned to reflect the WW1 centenary in 2018 and planted to reflect an Edwardian garden with influences from overseas postings from Faringdon servicemen.

We're aiming this at the whole community but particularly benefit to Alzheimer’s and their carers, elderly, disabled or special needs residents.

We will have wide paths  of recycled rubber 3m wide for safe travel and raised “sand-bag” beds for easy access so everyone can help with weeding and planting!

The garden will be zoned to incorporate touch, taste, sight, sound and scent. We'll have tons of sensory planting – heritage species, historical/nostalgic.

We're designing it to require minimal onward maintenance; a blank canvas to make sure costs are kept in check for future generations of custodians.

We'll have an educational space for schools with an outdoor classroom, a story telling area and trails to discover.

Café for visitors - affordable, simple snacks
